CAD151-Engineering Drawing Fundamentals

Introduction

CAD151 - Engineering Drawing Fundamentals:
Introduces technical drafting from the fundamentals through advanced drafting practices. Includes lettering, geometric construction, technical sketching, orthographic projection, sections, intersections, development, fasteners. Teaches theory and application of dimensioning and tolerances, pictorial drawing, and preparation of drawings.

Complete excercises in Chapter 5.
Don't forget to keep adding to your portfolio! We will check this halfway through the semester.

2.19 - Geometric Construction

We are focusing on extending our capabilities in 2D sketches and building out adaptable profiles within our sketches.

Getting Started:
Create a simple 1/4-20 Nut without threads in SW. Make sure to use parametric equations for the bolt diameter, flat to flat measuerment and the height.

Don't forget to keep adding to your portfolio! We will check this halfway through the semester.

2.26 - Parent/Child Relationships

We are building out a simple part that discusses parent/child relationships with features.

Getting Started:
Create a parametric box that contains a length, height, width and material thickness that is equal all around and no top. If the box height is less than 3", make the material .125", otherwise keep it at .25" for taller boxes.

For next class...
Make sure you submit screenshots, parameters, and feature dimensions of each of the models from Chapter 7 Excercises below:
Ch 7 Practice Examples Submission
Complete excercises in Chapter 7.
Don't forget to keep adding to your portfolio! We will check this halfway through the semester.

Nut & Bolt
Create a completely parametric nut & bolt set. These should be 2 separate parts with similar equations. The nut should only have one input as the bolt diameter. The bolt should have the same and include a parameter for the length. When taking measurements for the bolts and nuts you can feel free to refer to the tables and find ranges of sizes for the hex heads on the nuts and bolts. This will help you determine how to create parametric equations to build perfect nuts and bolts from the tables. Make sure that the features and parameters are properly labeled. You may submit your part files for SW on Canvas HERE. If you are struggling, please reach out in the next few days with questions and send me parts to review before submitting. For help with IF statements, look at the SW Help, Tutorials or here or or here.
